Another of Oxford's many bicycles...Apologies for not posting much lately, I've been losing in the work/life balance! I just downloaded the beta of Lightroom 3 and I thought I'd use it to process this start to finish. I have to say, the sharpening and noise control are real improvements. I often neglect software and it probably has just a big a say in the final image as the cameras and lenses I obsess over!

Cold River #2

Cold River #2 - 2010-02-04 21:20:47

This was taken a few days after the previous post from almost the same spot. The previous one was shot from behind the fence to the front left of this one. Amazing what a difference a day or two makes. This is a pseudo HDR, I blended two exposures, two stops apart, for the sky and foreground.

Taken at the same time as the previous post, from the other side of the river looking west.

This was taken the evening before we had all of the snow a few weeks ago. You can just see some frost on the ground, it was absolutely freezing! In processing I created and combined two .psd files from the same RAW file, a couple of stops apart. That's the only reason the foreground is light, there wasn't much light around.

Oxford is full of discarded bicycles. I always wonder what the story is.

We had even more snow last night, though this one is from a couple of weeks back.
