In the centre of Oxford is the 'Covered Market'. It's not really a market, more small traditional shops. It's a good place to go at any time with a camera, but it's particularly festive at this time of year.As with many of my photos, I was busy trying not to lose two small children and annoy one patient wife at the time, so it's a bit of a snapshot. Still, it gets me in the mood for Christmas which is just a few days away....

Iffley Lock - 2008-12-18 20:02:09
This is just by Iffley Lock in Oxford. The University rowing clubs practice on this stretch of river between the lock and the 'Head of the River' pub in town. It's not far from home and while it's great for misty mornings I rarely have a chance to get down there so early! This was taken on the same morning as 'Still' and 'Lifesaver', a bit later, once the sun was higher. I've added a bit of contrast but that's pretty much it.

Millstone - 2008-12-16 16:15:50
This is from the Peak District near Sheffield. In the time of the mills they used to carve millstones from the local rock. When the industry declined many of the unfinished stones were left in situ where they were being carved. Apologies for the lack of EXIF, this was taken on film about 3 years ago. The only processing I've done is to repair the damage caused by a cheap scanner!Comments: 0

Another from the rally day on Friday, probably the last I'll post (though I have many more!). I got to take some shots on a friend's Nikon D3 and I have to say, what a great camera. The noise at ISO 1600 rivals my 40D at 400. Let's hope Canon catch up soon, I can't afford to switch!Comments: 0

There are good days and bad days at work. Today was a good day! We took some customers on a corporate rally day and I got to drive too! It also gave me plenty of lens fodder. I fired off several hundred shots which I've barely had a chance to look at yet. I was processing this to send to someone so it becomes today's post. I'll probably post more next week when I've run out of new material ;-)If you've never tried rally driving before I'd thoroughly recommend it, the cars were amazingly quick. We went with www.extreme-rally.co.uk who were a great bunch. Just try and get someone else to pick up the bill!
